AREAS I WORK WITH
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, stress, loss, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or simply feeling that something in your life is not quite right.
Individual counselling gives you the opportunity to explore what is happening at your own pace. We can look at what you are experiencing now, patterns that may keep returning, and past experiences that may still be affecting how you feel today.
The way we work will be shaped around you, rather than expecting you to fit a particular approach.
YOUNG PEOPLE
Growing up can bring pressures that are difficult to manage alone.
School or college, friendships, relationships, family difficulties, anxiety, self-esteem and worries about the future can all become overwhelming.
Counselling offers a place to talk openly about what is happening without feeling judged or pressured to have all the answers.
We can explore what you are experiencing, make sense of how you are feeling and look at what might help you manage things differently.
ANGER MANAGEMENT
Anger can sometimes feel difficult to control, particularly when it begins to affect relationships, work or how you feel about yourself.
Counselling can help you explore what may be underneath your anger, recognise the situations or patterns that trigger it, and understand how you respond when those feelings become overwhelming.
Together, we can look at ways of managing anger differently and expressing difficult emotions in ways that feel healthier and more manageable.
ADDICTION
Addiction can affect many areas of life, including relationships, work, emotional wellbeing and how you feel about yourself.
It can also be difficult to understand why certain behaviours continue even when you know they are causing problems.
I have experience working with people affected by addiction through my work within rehabilitation services.
Counselling can provide an opportunity to explore what may be driving addictive patterns, the role they have come to play in your life, and what might support meaningful change.
RELATIONSHIP AND COUPLES COUNSELLING
Relationships can become difficult for many reasons. You may be struggling with communication, recurring arguments, trust, intimacy, changing circumstances, or feeling disconnected from one another.
Couples counselling provides an opportunity for both partners to talk openly about what is happening and begin to understand the patterns that may be affecting the relationship.
The aim is not to decide who is right or wrong, but to help each person feel heard and develop a clearer understanding of themselves and each other.
I also work individually with people experiencing relationship difficulties, including separation, family problems and patterns in relationships that seem to keep repeating.
Whether attending individually or as a couple, counselling can help you explore what is happening, communicate more openly and consider what you would like from the relationship going forward.
STRESS & TRAUMA
Stress and difficult or traumatic experiences can affect how you feel, think and respond long after the event itself.
You may feel anxious, overwhelmed, constantly on alert, disconnected, or find that certain situations bring back difficult thoughts and feelings.
Counselling can provide a place to explore these experiences at a pace that feels manageable.
I work in a trauma-informed way, paying attention to safety, emotional regulation and how past experiences may be affecting you in the present.
Together, we can begin to understand these responses and explore ways of helping you feel more grounded and able to manage their impact on your everyday life.
ANXIETY & DEPRESSION
Anxiety and depression can affect many areas of life. You may find yourself constantly worrying or overthinking, feeling on edge, struggling with motivation, withdrawing from others, or simply not feeling like yourself.
Counselling can help you explore what may be contributing to how you feel and understand some of the thoughts, experiences and patterns that may be keeping things going.
We can work together at your own pace to develop a clearer understanding of what you are experiencing and explore what may help you feel more able to manage difficult thoughts and emotions.
HYPNOTHERAPY
Alongside counselling, I am also a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist.
Hypnotherapy can be used to support a range of difficulties, including anxiety, stress, confidence, habits and unwanted patterns of behaviour.
The process involves using relaxation and focused attention to help you explore thoughts, feelings and responses in a different way.
You remain aware and in control throughout, and nothing is done without your agreement.
Hypnotherapy can be used on its own or, where appropriate, alongside counselling as part of our work together.
